I was happy with generic carbon film resistors.

I've used 1% Dales, 1% Xicons, 2% NTEs and 5% generic carbon film from Radio Shack.

In the circuits I've tried them in they all produce good sound. One thing I noticed was slightly more hum with the carbon (with ear against the speaker, so really not normally audible anyway). I think for absolute best sound among the resistors I've tried I'd pick the Dales, then the NTEs with a toss-up between the Xicons and the Radio Shacks for third place. Keep in mind that non of them are awful.

A little aside- I just tried some Nichicon Muse caps today on a new GC and they perform great!
