i recently broke open my friends harmon kardon subwoofer(it came with his HP comp)
i want to make an amplifier for my ipod The woofer has a rating of 12 V, 1A which i can achieve there is an IC - BA5417 inside , it is a dual power amplifier DATA SHEET : http://kitsrus.com/pdf/ba5417.pdf I would like to know a schematic to use this IC for the above application one exists in the datasheet on pg. 4 but i'm not sure if it is workable Also what sort of power consumption will this thing have PLEASE HELP I'M A BIT NEW TO THE AUDIO PART OF ELECTRONICS

What are you unsure about? Pins 3 and 5 are outputs, pins 12 and 11 are their respective inputs.
As the unit has been used as a subwoofer you might have to do something with the input circuitry or pin 9.

i have attached the cct diagram i found about this IC BA5417
it is a power amplifier as one can see pins 11 & 12 are input but how exactly does on give this input i plan to give input from my ipod so there will be one ground wire and the two audio channels , where exactly do these three wires need to go also how can i introduce volume control to the cct. lastly the datasheet of the IC is at : http://www.ortodoxism.ro/datasheets/rohm/ba5417.pdf i just cant figure out what current will be needed i plan to supply 12 V (from 8 AA battery) but how much current?? Just for background this amplifier will give output to a speaker the whole project is for making a portable speker for my discman PLEASE HELP |

You see those little fork-like symbols, those are ground...
your input from the ipod, has one ground line and the 2 channels... one going to each input, and ground going to ground... |

That schematic is for bridged load, using the chip as one channel with more power...
