Hi all,
Just finished my system (Natalie P's for mains, Selah Audio 35CC for center), and my Yamaha RX-V757 is not rated to power a 4 ohm center...seeing as I had been considering getting into chip amps, I thought this would be an interesting intro. Anyways - I have searched but not come up with anything relevant for me...what chipset(s) would you guys recommend to build a chip amp to power a 4 ohm center? I was looking at 41Hz's Amp2, among others...I would guess bridged would be best? Cheers! JSB |

Depends on your power requirements. The LM3886 will drive 4 ohms up to 60 - 70W. If you want more power then use the LM4780 with both channels in parallel for about 120W. There are kits out there to do these options. Search around in this forum and you'll find lots of info.

OK - I am certainly not averse to searching, but please help me out here - I searched "4 ohm center" and "4 ohm center channel" in this forum, but haven't really found anything worthwhile for me.
If somebody could just point me to search strings or a thread or two to get me started, I'm certain I could be on my merry way. Cheers! JSB |

Well a LM3886 running of 24v Rails will power a 4ohm speaker at about 60w, Or you can do 2 LM3886 in Paralell to get about 120w.....

search for Gainclone or LM4780 or LM3886. Any of those should get you lots of hits with threads. Maybe gainclone kits will also get some good info.
