Default TDA1524 - im looking for pot:)

No, seriously
The 47k volume pot - is it linear or log? I've seen kits selling with both types so how 'bout it?

Here's the datasheet http://www.nxp.com/acrobat_download/...524A_CNV_2.pdf

I have built this tone/volume control about 3 years before and i have used linear pots.

p.s. in my opinion tda1524 hasn't good tone control and it isn't good for hi-fi projects(this is only my opinion).

p.s.2 sorry for my Enlgish...

Thanks.

I have one more question:

The linear/contour option, what it actually does?

The contour (2,2k res. taken out) seems to boost LF at low volume, if i'm reading the graphs right.

I would like to have freq. response flat, when bass&treble pots are in middle position, regardless of volume setting.

It's a little noisy is what i heard of it, altough when i have builded a preamp with it once, it actually sounded quite good IMHO

Could you recommand me another (in the same price category) preamp? If possible, i would like to avoid using baxandall style t.c. in favour of voltage controlled IC's.

You'll find plenty of that in SF (lol).

I'd just look on Mouser, NewarkInOne, and/or Digikey too.

Tell me if you find out where to get CUSTOM pots

first if you want tell me where you are going to use this preamp,to know round about what you're looking for.
i don't know a really good volume/tone control chip.but in my opinion if you want a good quality hi-fi preamp with tone control, built one with op-amps. a good and simple project is that: sound.westhost.com/project02.htm and project97 is with baxandall tone control...
i haven't built this one but i have built other projects from this site and it works very good.
it's going to be a little more expensive than this with tda1524 but i think is better.
