Don't know where to start.

so i have a suzuki sidekick. i hate it, but i need a nice system because i like loud music.

i have 2 12" mtx thunder 5500's

and thats it.

i dont know anything else about anything. i want to stay with an mtx amp, but i dont know what one to get.

and what kind of speakers should i get, do i need another amp for those, or can i just run them out of my head unit?

MTX Thunder 5500

1. Depends on what kind of amp you get;near as I can figure,
these are 300 watts ea., so 600 watts minimum for the amp needed to drive them.
2. This would only be good for bass( max, midbass) ,so I would hazard a guess you're going to need some type of mid and high
speaker as well.
3. What types/kinds of speakers to get would depend on your
head unit's spec's(watts/channel, etc.)

Does this help?

most head units are barely adequate to run factory speakers. If you want loud yes another amp will be necessary. As for speakers there are things to think about. If you have a soft top you will want to find speakers that can handle some power, and an amp that can drive them. I would recommend auditioning speakers at your local audio shops to find what sounds good to you. Then find an suitable amp for it.
