I would say you're good to go on that, my amp is rated aprox 50W/ch at 27 Vdc with a 4 ohm load. I use it on 12 Vdc with a 1 ohm load (electrostatic speakers...) and it sounds great!

Buy a 12V to 110V AC or 220V AC inverter, whichever you need in your country. You can buy a 200W inverter in the USA for about $60.00 and it will run an amp like yours just fine. Even a 100W inverter should work.

Dan, have you ever had a "romantic moment" in your car, some smooth music in the background afterwards haveing to tell your girlfriend the car won't start no more?
![]() ![]() I would like the system to be able to run for a long time on the battery. With an smps the consumption will be aprox. 70% less than with a power converter to 110/220Vac. That's many listening hours wasted.... Go with the smps idea ![]() Oh and by the way, what consumption does it say (in watts) on the back of the amp?

on the back of the amp say 550watt max. a 12V to 110V AC or 220V AC inverter is very bad idea..
a smps with +-35vDC 600watt 10A i think is very good for this amplifier

What smps you propose to me putting? unless I put transistor of expense smaller in power in order to I have smaller consumption

A note about inverters and audio equipment..
"Modified Sine Wave" (really a square wave) inverters are nasty. I've tried to use them once or twice, and it's hopeless,There's so much hum and noise you wouldn't hear the music through it. REAL Sine Wave inverters may be a completely different matter, but don't waste your time with the MSW type. |

The smps shown in the link was designed for a power amp, would think the system suits that purpose.....
The one with the discrete components shown in the link (not the one with the chip) would seem more suitable to (modify to) handle high current. Don't change trnasistors in the power amp! They're too nice!

Those look really nice to me... Note the fact that the 20A model is said to only be able to handle 275 watt loads continueous... still believe they stay on the very safe side, and musical signal does draw less power than the sine waves they use on testing an amp's power...
