I'm not actually into car audio, (yet, and if I do get into I might get into a lot of trouble with my long suffering wife) however there has been some discussion regarding the use of car speakers in hi fi apps on the full range driver forum. I feel that a pair of 5.25s mounted in the right enclosure with a pair of subs might just rock big time!
So guys what are the real gems amoungst these size drivers, bear in mind they need to be efficient (92db or better) and very accurate, absolute bass is not the issue. Not too worried about price, compared to regular high end hi-fi drivers the prices are very reasonable anyway. Many thanks |

Focal K2, MB QUART QSD, Boston Acoustics Pro50 is the best 5.25 components sets I've ever heard. However 5.25 is kind of on a small side IMHO. Each set is ~$300-500 USD. Sound deadening and other installation detailes can make a lot of difference too.

Boston Z6's...
The tweeter can be mounted either on the driver, or seperately... Granted they're $2k AUD. |
