Question Eyebrid 4Y80 with mass eror

Hello, I have a problem with the eyebrid. sorry for my bad english, but it is very difficult to explain the mistake because I didn´t know all english words.

On all 4 channel the music ist bad. There are disturbance when the music is playing and the music is distorted. I found out the it is a mass error. On the platine there was a cable connected to the radiator box. The cable was connected with a screw to the radiator box. This cable was broken and I repair it. After that I put at the cinch connection a mass cable direct to the minus power connection of the amplifier. at that moment the music was great. No more distrubance. If you want, I can sent some picture what I have made. When I put away the cable from the cinch terminal the disturbance are back. The cable at the cinch terminal is NOT the cinchcable. It is an new mass cable so that the distrubance are away.

My question now: where comes this disturbance. I have check the cinchterminal and this is ok. There is no broken line or something like that.

Regard Jörg

Jörg,
The broken cable you repaired might be the problem, more precisely the connectors of the cable.
Are you sure you attached them to blanc metal?

Hello Netlist

Yes I have repaired that broken cabel. It was killed before. I don´t know why.

But the broken cable cannot be the error, I think.
Before I opened the amplifier, I get a dicription of the error. The guy said, that the amplifier was installed in the car and on all 4 channels he has got the disturbance. but the LED was lightning green.
when I connect it at home at my power supply, the LED shine not green. After I put the cable from the cinch termial to the mass the LED light green and the music play great.

Here is a photo of the killed cable I repaired. I put it under the screw.

but someone says
There is not output stages with those the mass of the Cinchterminal completely consciously attached is around mass loops to be avoided. Since the car radio and the output stage are connected with the vehicle mass however both, the whole plays nevertheless.

I hope you understand it, because I have it translate by www.babelfish.altavista.com/tr

Regards Jörg

If the cable was broken, I suspect it was melted.
If it was melted, it is very well possible that a mass trace on the platine is broken/melted as well.
Mass=earth or ground in English and I think you mean print or PCB for platine.

P.S. Your English is far better than Babelfish.

Hello it was not melted, it was cut off. Before I get the amplifier the guy brougth it to a car hifi garage (ElektroWerkstatt =german word). The man said that there is a problem with the mass.
When I looked in it, the cable was cut off, and so I solder a new cable at this point.

another point: My Problem is that I didn´t know all the german words in english, so I go to babelfish and translate some words. Sometimes I have the feeling that babelfish doesn´t work great. some words are very suspect or have not the meaning what I want to say.

Hmm...a modified amp.
If you have access to the man who did the job, ask him.
At the very least, we need a schematic and the list of modifications.

I have a connecting diagramm. but there is a problem. From ths amplifier there are 2 version. I didn´t know if my plan is the correct plan for this amplifier.
The man how did this I didn´t know him.

A schematic is what we need but can you post or mail the diagram?

Please send me your email address.
But I wrote I´m not sure if the diagramm is the right for the amplifier, because there are two different version. So we have to look
My connection diagramm is for the black top plate. There is another for the actuall Version with black chrom. but I didn´t know what my amplifier is?

So I go to bed, because in the morning I must start with my work. My holiday is over.

The wire that's connected from the circuit board to the screw (that's used to clamp the FETs) is not needed for normal operation. It is used to shunt electrical impulses from the aluminum heatsink to earth/chassis ground.

If the amp works with the ground in place, look for open/burned traces and broken/defective solder connections on the circuit paths between the earth/ground terminal and the third lef of the FETs.

If there is a screw that connects the ground circuit path to the heatsink, it may be the reason operates properly with the wire in place. Remove the wire you replaced and check for continuity between the ground terminal of the amp and the third leg of the FETs (the FETs near the wire you replaced). If there is no continuity, find the open connection. The two long copper wires near the terminal blocks look like they connect the ground terminal to the FETs.

In the car it was likely bolted to the chassis of the vehicle which would have served to ground the heatsink and therefore allowed it to play.
