CD player broken in Prius

Hi,

I've never really done any car audio repair so.. thanks for your patience..

The CD player has stopped working in my '04 Toyota Prius (48K miles). I put a disk in and it tries to read it and can't so it spits the disk out after a few seconds. This used to be intermittent but now it is always.

I tried a lense cleaner disk but that didn't help.
I'm guessing it is the lense or the laser. Does anyone know where I can get instructions on how to diagnos and fix this problem myself? Where can I get directions on how to remove the radio? Is this stuff covered in the factory repair manual?

It *should* be covered by a factory warranty, but I don't know if Toyota thinks enough of their products to offer one that long (*cough*).

Have you any warranty left? If so, speak with a dealership.

My warrenty for the radio (bumper-to-bumper) has expired. (It is up to 36K miles and I have 48K).

Hey joe... I have the same problem with my '04 prius. Did you ever get your cd player fixed? I always thought it was something with the rubber rollers and they weren't grabbing the cd's very well.

would love to hear what you discovered with this annonying problem.
