i'm a poor college student, and somebody recently stole my cd player. i was wondering if anyone knew whether it is possible to splice a headphone jack to the speaker wires and hook the speakers up to my ipod in place of the headphones?
i'm not sure if the ipod has enough power to power the speakers, but i have one of those ipod car chargers that can be hooked up if that helps. if anyone knows, please be detailed...i'm kinda dumb. thanks |

The short answer is no. The longer answer is still no. You need an amplifier.

Definitely not, not only would it not have nearly enough power to drive the speakers, the speakers are such a low impedance that it could quite possibly fry the ipod's output if you tried. You need an amp, whether it's a headunit or an external amp it doesn't matter.
