I've recently built a car audio amp with a TDA1562 from Elektor. The diagram I used is this.
The problem is that I don't achieve the 50W RMS that I should get. Instead of that, when I lift the volume up, the LED starts blinking and I get a lot of distortion.
I've read another Thread about it (they say that I've to put Pin 16 to Vp) but no luck.
Thanks

What it the B+ supply input voltage no load/output?
What is the B+ input voltage when driven hard?
What ohm load?
The chip is only rated for ~20 watts into 4 ohms continuously. The 50 watt rating is only for short term peaks. The lift capacitors will discharge relatively quickly. After they discharge, the max RMS unclipped output power is back to ~20 watts.

Blinking diag LED most likely indicates clipping, see page 8 in the data sheet. You are either providing too much signal on the input or the chip is maxing out (weak power supply or it's just at its limit). That would be my guess.
Anyway, it's a 70W chip... but @ 10% THD.
