So I got a new tacoma, came with a JBL "premium" sound system(6 speakers, sub and amp) it sucks and I wana rip it out. any of you have experiene with these stock amps, ie where are they? I wana stick in a nice Eclipse AVn 5435 HU, havent thought of the speakers to use yet. Any ideas?

Hi
not sure about your JBL set, but I know that some factory sound systems use a headunit, that only delivers RCA-level aouputs. The amplifiers are usually small 10-15W amplifiers that are mounted directly onto the speakers. If not usually there is a "central" amplifier that´s mounted in the trunk or eneitth the seat or behind a cover. You can ask your car dealer, he will know where the amplifier unit is mounted. |
