Amp Selection

I'm after getting a sub and amp setup. usin 2 x 10" subs. if my 2 subs are rated @ 380W (max 1000W) do i want to be using 1 amp rated @ 760W or 1 @ 2000W?

please help as i am wanting to get this up and running a.s.a.p

It's not really that simple

The power handling also depends on how the speaker performs once inside your specific box.

If the speakers really are decent ones then an amp of between 700W and 1500W will do fine. Also bear in mind that most car amps are massively over rated in terms of wattage, and that doubling power will only give you 3dB more SPL which is not that much of an increase.

But I agree that most amplifiers are overrated.

NO! +10dB is doubling the volume and it requires 10x the power.

Or, you could say that +3dB is doubling the power.
