I was happy with the Infinity 5002i coaxials, which were only $70 or so for the pair. You can't really get anything decent for less. Since then I have upgraded to the Infinity Reference series components and they are great, even better than the coaxials...

Decent coaxials will run at least $60 a pair, decent component sets run at least $150. Keep that in mind and stay away from Pyramid, Pyle, etc.

Oops, seems I forgot to answer half the question! :(

Subs...

Again Infinity has some cheaper subs starting at around $70 each that are nice. Kicker makes good units that start at about the same price. JL is hands down the best, but you will pay for it...the W0 series starts at $100 or so.

Amps...

I have no idea who makes good cheap amps.

Check auctions and liquidation houses too. I bought a pair of 6x9's a long time ago at 1/50 their retail :)

I am pretty tight with what I spend on car audio and here is what I have come up with so far (all prices include shipping) ...

Kenwood MP425 deck ($130 millionbuy.com)
2 Alpine Type S 6.5 speakers (front) ($80 local)
2 Roadgear 6.5 speakers (rear) ($20 walmart)
1 Pyramid 400W (ya right) 2 channel Amp ($30 half.com)
1 Kicker CVR12 subwoofer ($90 millionbuy.com)
1 modified hand-me-down 12 inch sealed box ~ 1.3ft^3 ($0)
1 dual amp 1400W kit ($20 walmart)

Total: $370

It sound good to me and gets very loud, very clear. To me, millionbuy.com has unbelievable prices and treat customers the way they should be treated. And you can't beat free shipping over $200. I wll go back to them when I add my car video system.

Hope that helps
