I have installed a pair of mb quart 2sd 216 in my car and woulkd like some advice on tuning the system( speaker placement and xover freq)
What I have found is that it seems that the best imaging is when the tweets are located below the mids in the door. but you lose the high soundstage. Also the crossover freq seems to be best at 3.4 k(oem is 2.4) but some of the vocal presence is gone. any advice ? head unirt eclipse front biamped using souindstream class a 3.0 and d100II Jeff |

First id chuck out the standard passive crossovers. Measure Frequency response of drivers. Find spot where they overlap by a few octaves. Also consider how much they are beaming off axis! Use a high order filter to minimise 2 drivers overlapping near Fc Consider crossover lobes and the main lobe axis. You can steer this with crossover Freq and driver placement. etc etc etc |
