Hi guys, I'm new to this site, so please bear with me.
I wanna build myself a 700W-1000W SMPS for an amplifier for my car. I wanna use a push-pull topology, but the problem I'm facing, is the design of the transformer.
I've got alot of broken ATX power supllies laying around in the garrage. Can I use the big transformer core and rewind them to suit my needs.
Does anyone know the specs of all those cores used in an ATX SMPS.
Thanx:D

I don't know much about SMPSs but when I think of it, you've hit upon a great idea. The cores may not be big enough for the total wattage you're looking for, but if you use say one or two channels for each one, it might be good. I don't know of any amps that use a dedicated PS for each channel, save for mono amps.
