In similar amps, I've used the IRFP4332 but the 4229 would likely also work. Others will likely have suggestions so wait until you order parts.
You may have to make an adjustment to R95 on the driver board if idle current it too high.
The large transistors on the driver board develop bad solder connections that are difficult to see.

Are you leaving B+ and ground connected and only removing remote voltage to turn the amp off?
yes, just disconnecting remote
