Note that 2sk3779 is only 250V but 59A which may be better since 2KW in to 1 Ohm is only about 130V Rail-Rail. Indeed you may choose to replace them with the biggest (highest current) 150V FET you can find, but check the supply voltage first. I assume you have checked/replaced the drivers as well? BTW, this kind of power can make fiberglass PCBs into charcoal, which there is no fixing. You have to replace the PCB.

All good possibilities, but without the schematic and details like circuit voltages, it's hard to say. The Fairchild part has a higher gate threshold which would be good if the failure was shoot-through but bad if it was on resistance heating. The failed part specs claims no secondary breakdown but obviously it did fail, perhaps for other reasons. Does the product have over temperature shut-down, over-current protection and fuses the customer can't bypass?
