Greetings All. I have here a Soundstream TN5.950d 5 channel amplifier that was in protection mode when I got it. I removed the rectifiers for the sub channel and it powered up fine without protection and played clear on all four mids channels.

I checked the board in the area of the sub channel outputs and the only thing I noticed was a resistor R42E with apparent heat damage to itself and surrounding area. I am not certain of the value but the bands appear to be brown black red gold, which should be 1k ohms. The resistor measured 188 ohms when checked after removal so I replaced it with a 1k ohm resistor. I reinstalled the rectifiers and the amp powered up without protection and all 5 channel effects functional.

The problem I have now is that the sub channel plays with very low output. All dials for gain, cross-over etc. are functional and have no side effect on the channel other than its intended function. The four midrange channels can get reasonably loud when turned up but will overpower the weak playing sub channel so it is not properly usable in this condition.

What can I check to determine if something needs to change in the preamp/output section?

Is the resistor that I replaced supposed to be a 1000 ohm, or have I put in a resistor of incorrect value?

There is an output IC Ir2010s in the sub section. Does this need replacing?

Thanks in advance for any and all assistance I may receive.
