Angry mtx xd 600

im having a bit of trouble with amp. it works fine but the inductor gets hot fairly quick with no load on it. i remove the caps and check them and the are good, dont know what else could cause problem.

The inductors in most MTX amps run 'hot' but you have to realize that what's hot to the touch isn't necessarily hot for an inductor. The components that make up the inductor can stand high temperatures (200F+). If the inductor isn't melting the solder on its terminals and the inductor heats up uniformly around its perimeter, it may be OK.

If the amp has a fan and the fan forces air across the inductor and the fan only runs at full speed at high power/temperatures, the inductor may operate at lower temperatures when the amp is under normal operation.

Default mtx xd 600

there is no fan on this amp just the inductor. when i remove the output mosfet
it doesnt get hot. plus i measure 42.3 khz on the output mosfets. is that normal?

I don't know what the output stage oscillates at in this amp and have no information on the amp (not even photos). 42K seems low but may be OK for this amp.

With the output transistors out of this amp, there is nothing being driven into the inductor.
