Kicker 700.5

Hey guys I'm looking for some ideas from you guys. I just got a kicker 700.5 in and it worked when I got it all channels and also sub output (with a humming only in the sub section) I played the amp for like 4 mins and it then went I to protect. It stays in protect for about 15 mins then I supply power again and it works for another couple mins. Anyone know what's going on or where I should look? Is this a thermal shut down??? Fan isn't spinning. I'm lost if anyone is familiar with like amp I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

If you disconnect all speaker wires from the speaker terminals and have no RCA cables plugged in and leave it on for 15-20 minutes will it go into protect?

If so, how long does it take before it goes into protect mode?

Is the time it takes to go into protect consistent or completely random?

After about 7 minutes the amp started going into protect with only power applied.

I did notice a high pitch noise something from transformer 2. T02 I touched it and the sound went away.

The noise isn't likely significant. Loose windings will make noise.

In a similar amp, Q314 and Q315 can leak (electrically) and cause the amp to go into protect for no reason.

What about the humming noise in the sub channel?

It's generally due to an open or burned shield ground.

Does it continue to hum when you ground the shield?

I didn't look to see what q314 or q315 are but can I replace those to make it stop going into protect?

There are no guarantees that this will solve the problem. IF there are no legitimate reasons for the amp to go into protect, there is a good chance that replacing these will solve the problem.

Grounding RCA's didn't not help with noise from subs section nor did it alter the sound. Right now I have applied power and hooked up a subwoofer but did not hook up RCA's and I have a humming coming from subwoofer

Where in location are q314 and q315

This is from a ZX but it should be similar to your amp.

Ok thanks. Any other ideas for the high pitched humming noise coming from the sub channel? I have noise even with no signal into that channel.

A hum is low pitched. A high pitched noise is a whine. Which do you have?

Is the noise audible when connected to a subwoofer?

Ok sorry for my description. I believe I have a high pitched whine only in the sub section. 4 channels play fine when amp is functioning.

I just retested and I don't hear it through a 12" kicker but I hear a whine through a 6x9? Why is that?

What parts numbers do I need to order for q314 and q315?

The subwoofer cannot reproduce the high frequencies. It's unlikely that there is a problem with the subwoofer channel.

The originals are KTC3875GRs but they're difficult to find. I use the MMBTA06 to replace them.

Ok what circuit are q314 and q315 in that are causing a protect?
