Hi i have just picked up a

Pioneer DEX-77 component centrate cd tuner
Pioneer CDX-2 component cd

both have been in storage for around 20 yrs,

The DEX-77 has control illumination - loads disks and ejects, that's it - nothing else
Fascia is complete

The CDX-2 has control illumination but does nothing else.
There are a couple of fascia control buttons missing

Both decks were stored away working and don't appear to have been messed with.

Any ideas where to start with these?

These are very popular Vintage Pioneer components, I would really appreciate any suggestions on where to begin getting the units working again.

Go through the power supplies first. The capacitors may re form or you could change them. Don't use larger values, it will put a strain on the stuff that feeds them! When the supplies are correct, CD Player needs to spend some time on the servo. I think the spindle motor will have dry bearings so change the motor. The tuner will probably be OK. Don't twiddle any pot cores unless you have the gear to set it up and align the IF strip correctly.
Have fun.
