Hifonics BXI 2010

My friend brought me this amp and tells me there is something wrong with it..

He told me that he has gone thru 4 sets of subwoofers with thus amp ..

He said that the left side sub in his encloser always blows the right side is fine ..

So he said the left channel is bad and i explained that is a mono amp 1 channel..

He stated that he only blows the left side sub and has gone thru 4 subs ..

He keeps the gain less then halfway up ..

There is no DC present on the speaker terminals..

Also no DC on the the Rca Shields..

Everything checks fine inside the amp..

Is there something im missing??

Or what might cause this??

Its one of 4 things.
1 The side of the box that blows the sub is not sealed tight (leaky) or tuned different(probably lower) then the other side.
2 The sub that doesn't blow has a higher impedance then the other so it doesn't pull as much power.If there duals then one of the voice coils could be open.
3 The wire gauge is larger on one side going to the box.
4 Its just a coincidence.

How is it blowing (open coil, frozen, suspension failure...)?

Tell him to confirm (with a multimeter) that both speakers are of the same impedance. If one is wired wrong or a different impedance, that could make one speaker draw more power and be more likely to fail.

Could also be a loading issue with the subs
