Thanks Perry, hadn't seen that one yet. When crossing for amp output transistors are there certain parameters more important to closely match?

I'm getting the impression that its preferable to meet or exceed the voltage and current ratings, and closely match the gain, capacitance and bandwidth. Is this correct?
 
It depends on the amp. A greater voltage rating isn't important. A greater current rating is generally better. The other parameters aren't generally important. When possible it's best to use exact replacements. Sometimes, seemingly insignificant differences make a transistor completely unsuitable. The best example is the IRF540N. If it's used in place of the non-N version of the IRF540 in Rockford amps, it will generally cause significant problems.
