I just fixed one of these, but i noticed the gain doesnt have any effect. If i flip it from master to slave it has tons of gain, but cant be adjusted either.
There is a PIC16F873 chip on a riser card, Z1 crystal is missing, but the leads are still there. may have been knocked off a one time. Maybe this is the issue. anyone know its value? Last edited by mbates14; 15th November 2012 at 05:02 PM. |

I'm not 100% sure because I've never tried removing one. There is a 'digital potentiometer' on the board. In their older amps, that was used to control the level of the audio. If it's used in the same way here and the PIC chip was inactive because the timing crystal was missing, I'd assume that the output would go to the default for the digital pot (100%).
This is just a guess.
