Default best way to break in a subwoofer?

should I just play a lot of bass through my subwoofer or something?
or am i going at this the wrong way? what should i use? low frequency sub sonic bass? or just a lot of bassy songs?
am i still going at this the wrong way? my subwoofer is a DUAL 12" 4 ohm subwoofer 175 watt rms 500 watt max
it's in a ported box.
and its running off a DUAL 400 watt amp

Just run it at normal volume 1/2 or under with no bass enhancers applied but still bumping it a little for about 5 to 6 hours to break in the spider and surround. Once this is achieved hammer away!!!
