Can i take the preamp board out of an amp, and use it for another?

Hi all,
I was wondering if i could take a separate sound processing part out of a "lightning audio" amp and to use as a crossover/EQ for another (working) amp with no crossovers.

Is it too simple of me to think rca signal goes in.... crossed over signal comes out?

There are black, brown, red, orange, yellow, green wires going from pre-amp to amp boards and i cna't make sense of them because my multimeter batt is too low. (don't get paid for a while longer)

I'm guessing i need to power it with a small fuse?

It depends on the shield ground circuit in the two amps. In both amps, do you read 0 ohms between the RCA shield and the non-bridging speaker terminals?

Indeed i do.
You're probably coming to this but: how can i figure out which wires do what?
