Rockford fosgate deck! Anyone repair these?

Hello everyone, I have a Rockford fosgate RFX 8310 cd player. It does not work no lights, no power, nada. It was originally my dads when he finished putting together his truck he was going to use it. But when he was connecting it he told me it started getting very hot in the back and he disconnected it. When it was connected I went over all the power wiring it was all correct. Also checked the battery voltage it was at 12 volts with the truck off. Cd player was last working last summer.

Is it worth repairing? It was a good deck when it was last working. Any ideas what could have burnt on it?

If the back (heatsink) of the head unit got hot, it may have a defective speaker output IC or there may be a shorted speaker wire.

Yes the back would get hot where the IC is at. Could this be why it won't work? Only thing it will do is eject the cd out but no lights on the faceplate.

It may have other problems. A defective amplifier IC won't generally prevent it from working unless it's causing it to blow fuses. I'm assuming that you confirmed that you had 12v both power wires where they go into the head unit?

No fuses blow when I put power to it. It doesn't get hot when it's connected to my 10 amp power supply. And yes I checked all wires and voltages.

This head unit doesn't have a fuse on board or not that I know of...

Did you check the voltage going into the plug on the back of the head unit (at the head unit) to confirm that you had 12v on both the constant and ignition wires?

Perry that sounds right. If you do not want to fix it for him I would do it for $75.00
Kip 601 325 0464. If it is the Amplifier IC and an open trace.
I have seen these units draw so much current that a trace on the board will open.
