It doesn't appear that the IC is working properly. I don't think that there is any input condition that can make both outputs match. They should be at opposite supply voltages if the amp isn't working properly and something other than exactly 0v when the amp is working properly. It's also strange that the input pins are at 0v. I'd expect them to be something other than exactly 0v.

ok...il think of it.

how about the jumper connection? before I did the connection the amp alternately on/off then I followed the jumper, the amp is not anymore going to protect. what is the purpose of the jumper?

You shouldn't start a new post for an ongoing repair. Post a link to the point in the thread where the jumper is mentioned.

I found the the jumper function, it is for shorting the comparator output to GND then checking if there is DC offset after this comparator.
You're right outputs are complimentary, I will replace the LM316.

Thanks Perry!!!

Hey nonprof, I'm having a similar problem - did the LM316 get hot when you turned the amp on?

LM361, not LM316.

didn't notice that heat...some IC get hot on normal operation. The way you should check it, get the functional diagram and trace the flow. LM361 is not quite complex.

Default KX1200.1

Good evening Perry, is there any cross reference or other substitute that can be used for the LM361 on this amp (Kicker KX1200.1)?

The only other IC I know that's compatible is the NE529. That's the one I was using before I found the exact part number being used.

If you have any other questions, please start a new thread or email me.
