Rockford 800.4 - burned trace of rear output
I had bought this amp on ebay.
I had only tested the front channels and there were distortion. I found out that the shield of the rca jack was damaged. After disassembling the amp I found this burned trace. (rear speaker) what can cause this? http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/1...0417180342.jpg |
They probably allowed a 12v source to contact the speaker terminal.

ok, that means this is not a electrical fault of the amp?
It happened only due to careless handling? Thank you! I will fix this trace and see if it works :) |
It likely has other problems also. From what I can see in the photo, this would likely cause one channel to be dead (not distorted).
|
the distortion was only on the front channel because of the damaged rca shield.
the rear channel must be dead because of the burned trace, of course. (I hadn't noticed this because I had never used the rear channels) |
