Power Acoustic OVN1-5500D

This amp uses IRFP264N's for the outputs..

They are driven by a IR2110S ..


Wondering if this would be a good sub for the IRFP264N's

They are supposed to work as a sub in some amps. You'll have to try it in that amp to see if it works. I ordered some but I haven't had a chance to try them yet.

Ok I replaced the power supply fets,gate resistors, a few caps, outputs,output driver ic..


Amp powers up and idles good and produces audio but it also has a chrip thru the test speaker as well to the beat of the music..


3 out of the 6 outputs get warm..


Any ideas on what to check next?

I've used those as subs in two power acoustik amps I've recently done, they both work fine, YMMV of course.

Driver IC?

Is it the high-side or low-side FETs that are getting hot?

How do i tell which is the high side and which is the low side on the outputs?

The high side will have its source leg connected to the output filter inductor. The low side will have it's drain connected to the output filter inductor.

What is the DC voltage on the driver if you place the black probe on pin 2 and the red probe on pin 3?

If your refering to the IR2110S then i have 13.95 volts Black probe pin 2 red probe pin 3

Do you have a clean square wave on the low side FET gates?

From what I can see, it looks like the IC is switching properly. If you could get a better photo, it may be easier to give a more definitive answer.
