Default RE Audio XTX 5000.1

Any info on this amp, I have a power up issue and believe the transformer(s) are shorted. If I run with only the remote wire it won't power up the TL494. I get about .5Vdc on the VCC pin.

Outputs and rectifiers are pulled and still throws my supply into protect.

Does it draw any current with B+ and ground connected but no remote?

Nope, nothing excessive.

I noticed that VCC is derived from B+ and the remote wire turns on a transistor.

The nomenclature on the board seems to be wrong for the fets as well. Unless I mount the fets from the bottom.

Now that the FETs are out of the circuit, do you have a clean signal on the gates of all of the power supply FETs?

With all PS fets and rectifiers out I have the gate signal. I installed one supply set and I have the same issue, my supply goes to overload and shuts down.

If the amp has 2 banks of FETs for one transformer and 2 banks for the other transformer, try uninstalling the ones you currently have installed and install the FETs in the other bank.

Do all gate drive signals go all of the way back to ground?

The second supply powers up fine. The first supply must have an issue on the primary side.

The gate signals all go back to gnd. It is a nice clean signal.

I can hear a high pitched squeal then my PS goes into protect. Sounds like it is coming from the transformer.

Twist the transformer while it's trying to power up to see if the short can be temporarily cleared. If that allows it to power up, then you'll have to try to find the point where it's shorted. Often, this is where the terminal windings meet windings wrapped around the core.
