I have an Alpine 9887 h/u and several Zapco DC amps. I use the processing in the Zapco amps to shape the response. This requires a laptop to be hooked up. The 9887 has a fair bit of processing too. Occasionally I would use the eq "on the fly".
With the Alpine eq levels set flat the "defeat" setting should introduce no change in response, correct? That seemed to be the case normally. Recently I happened to turn "defeat" on and my system got notably louder. Why? |

If the setting without the defeat are set to lower the output, it could get louder when the defeat is on.

So the eq is not the only section affected by defeat?
I do have the levels cut in the crossover section. I'll check it out. |
