Default Pkoenix Gold Rival V8001

Working on this amp and it was brought to me partially disassembled.

The customer said it powered on but had no output.

I tested the output fets and found a few shorted. I removed all the output fets from the amp.

I powered up the amp and it turns on and does not go into protect, the green led stays on and it does not draw any current.

There is 2.495 vdc on the - terminals

There is 4.95 vdc on the + terminals

The fets I removed I believe are an IRFB4710 someone correct me if I am wrong.

Shall I order these fets or is there a suitable sub I can use?

Not sure about the DC on the terminals and why it is different from positive to negative being this is a mono amp.

I have posted a pic of the board. I have not removed it and I am assuming the board number is on the back side.

There is nothing to determine where the speaker terminals float to without the amp in full operation.

I don't know if that's the right part number. I'd suggest trying the originals. If they don't work, I'd suggest trying the IRF3710Z. They almost universally work in 4080 amps.

Ok the fet numbers on the case were as follows:

FB4710
IR735P

Thats how they look on the fet.

Reading some of the other posts on different amps with the 4080 it sounds like I should definantely replace the 4080 if there was any shorted output fets?

Yes. Replace the 4080. It may have survived but there's no point in using the old one. If you reinstall it to check it after you've got the amp working, you can determine if it's OK. Then you can keep it to use as a temporary replacement when checking other 4080 amps.

Will the IRF3710ZPBF work fine?

They're not rated for as much current as the originals. I think they will work but I don't know if they'll be as reliable.

I ordered the parts from Allied wont see them till next week. If I install the new output fets and power up the amp with a bad 4080 it wont destroy the new fets will it?

I ordered IRFB4710 fets and HIP4080AIPZ that was the exact part numbers on the parts.

It depends on the amp's design. If there are high value pulldown resistors between the gates and drains of the outputs, you can power it up without the 4080. If there are no pulldown resistors, it may destroy the FETs if the 4080 isn't in the circuit.
