Default Rockford amp replacement output fets

The 540 and 540A are still readily available but I was wondering........

Looking on fairchilds web site when typing a search for the 540A they say obsolete or discontinued. The replacement they now manufacture for it is FQP33N10. The data sheets are almost identical.

Question is has anyone tried these in a Rockford amp to see if they work or have had any problems?

Compare the datasheets....

IRF540

FQP33N10

As far as a few general differences, IRF540 is a hexfet, or plural well, cellular structure. FQP33N10 uses planer stripe architecture. There is a bit of difference in Cgd but they have similar Gm. Planer stripe seems to be more rugged, one of the reasons I like to use them.

I will usually use a fairchild cross in a rockford (non-d class) amp.
