I know it sounds ghetto but I was just looking at some competition speaker wire and it looks just like the power wire that I have now. I don't want to spend $27 on 25ft of speaker wire if I can use my old power wire. Thanks.

That's probably because it is just like the power wire you already have.
Spend your money on some CD's and enjoy. Regards Henry |

ummm, actually, if your using power wire the size of your speaker wire, i would be more concerned. i'm assuming that you are speaking of 8awg wire? so, if you are throwing 40a at your sub(s), you are definately drawing over 100a from your car, in which case, you need to be 2awg+ at runs over 8'. can get away with 4awg under 8'.... i use 8awg @ 1k+ per coil...... just what is your setup?

Uhhh.... lmao no. I was looking at some 8ga competition wire n it looks like the 8ga power wire i have hooked up now. But my setup is a 2000w rms hifonics hif2000d amp w 2alumn10n woofers along w a knukonceptz 0ga power wire.

oh, lol. just making sure. yah, i keep 8awg around for only 2 things- 2ch mid amps up to 250, and sub wires. sometimes, it's cheaper than good 12/2-10/2 speaker wire

higher gauge wire is less resistance. ive noticed in using a d4 sub with direct soldered leads of 8g my final load with the coils wired in paralell my impedence was under 2 ohms 1.8 or so slight difference but makes ur amp make more power.
