Default no sound out of subs from amp

i recently purchased a new amp for my car to power 2 subs. the amp i had before went bad(bestbuy tested it), so i already had all the wiring and subs, i just had to hook up the new amp. however, when i turn the stereo on i get power to my amp but no sound. i know the amp is fine because i tested it in another car. i used an output converter to connect the rca cables to my head unit. is it possible tht the output converter OR the rca cables just went bad? what else could be the issue? any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

AC voltage.

Disconnect the RCAs from the amp, turn the head unit on and set the volume to about 3/4. Measure the AC voltage on the RCA jacks. Place one probe on the shield and the other probe on the center conductor. Do you see a varying voltage that increases/decreases with the volume level?

You can do this more easily with a steady test tone but it can be done with music.

It could be either or an incorrect connection at the head unit.

Try it again directly on the output of the converter (not through the RCA cables).

With the black probe on the case of the head unit, touch each of the speaker wires feeding the LOC. Do you see any AC on those wires?
