I have finally found time to get into this thing after reading some info and watching a little DIY video. The parts I found to be showing no resistance were the MOSPEC U16C20A x2, and MOSPEC U16C20C x2. I have removed these and powered up the amp to test. It does come out of protect with these removed. I have found a supply house (Newark-Element 14)online that will charge about $6 for the four parts, $20 handling, and $5 shipping.
Can anyone tell me if there is a better/cheaper supply house? Also, is there anything else I need to check on the amp other than the fets all around? I don't know much yet but trying to learn and make sure I do it right. Had posted this in the wrong section so now opening a thread here. I am told that the parts I thought were bad are the diodes and they are what carry the power between sides or something of the sort. I did check all of the transistors and not getting any low or uncommon resistance on them so if the diodes are not my problem I'm not sure what more to test. Thanks ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

It's unlikely that the rectifiers have failed. Have you checked them out of the circuit?

Thank you very much for the reply.
Honestly, I did not even know they were the rectifiers until I went searching for replacement parts. I don't really know much about electronics, just now trying to learn on an amp that I had lying around. I have read some of the info on your site and will soon be ordering the material as well (end of next week). I have so many friends with amps just lying around and I know if someone takes the initiative to learn we can at least get some of them working again. To answer your question, no I did not test them out of circuit until you mentioned it. I do get readings now that I have them out of circuit on 2 of them and the other 2 show OL across the third leg. I found another area which appears to be burnt as well. This may be a very bad thing but I really don't know what it is I am looking at. I wish there was a schematic of these amps that showed what the parts were. I am an electrician by trade and used to being able to read and look things up if it gets tricky. Thanks for your help. ![]()

You need to be clear about what you mean. When you say that you get readings, that doesn't mean anything. Be specific and it will make things a lot easier. If you go to the transistor testing page (link in sig file), use the transistor page for the transistors that look like the rectifiers and post screen caps for the rectifiers.
If you haven't read the entire basic repair page, you should do so before you do anything else. You need to clean up the brown substance to see if something is burned under it. Generally, if something burns, the residue is black, not brown.

Looks like I got a little too anxious. Sorry about that. I should have paid attention to your message of reading all of the information provided thoroughly before attempting repair. I do want to learn how to do this right and more than just this one repair. I will read through your information as well as the material I am ordering and hopefully come back with a more educated response as to what my problem might be. Thank you again for your time, I hope to exchange words with you again shortly.
