Talking Would like peoples opinions?

Hey Everyone, im new to the forum, and i have recently acquired a sound system with the following: 2- 12" JL audio W3's in a 36" long x 13" Tall x 16" wide single ported enclosure. a Pioneer 1200W GM-D8400M Amplifier, and also a Kicker Fuse Holder, and a Kole Audio Capacitor. is this a good system? its my first one. and im also going to be slimming down the box, to fit behind my truck seat (reg. cab) so it will be 7" deep instead of 16". so if anyone has any opinions im open to them all. Thanks!

Welcome to DIY! Thats not a bad system at all. I wouldn't bother using the cap and on the box trimming If you remove 9" from the 16" then you should add it back either in 36" or the 13" if you can without changing the port size. I would just rebuild it if you can because you take away from the air space it will change the sound and have negative effects on the subs efficiency.

Many of us would have loved to have had that as a first system. I love the way the w3's perform. As far as the box goes I would not cut it down. If it's a nice box sell it or trade it in, depending on your truck and personal height you may need to use a sealed enclosure instead of ported. You can build enclosure yourself that will sound awesome, fit awesome, and look awesome if you seek advice and take your time. I'm sure I speak for many others on when I say we can walk you through building yourself a sweet enclosure. If you cut your current box down in size you will be very disappointed in the results! If your close to middle Tn I will help you personally.

Calculate the original "Too big" enclosure for the inner volume Example.. 3.135 cubic feet. When you build....or have someone else build, a suitable size, make the enclosure to have the same internal volume(Different dimensions) & go with the same size port......should be OK.
