Default 3 amps, same issue

With power and ground hooked up as soon as i hook up the remote wire my cd player starts flashing, cutting out, etc. I have the cd player hooked up to my astron power supply. Ive never had this problem before and i test amps all the time, but ive tested 3 in the last month that do this. They drawing too much current or? Thanks

Yeah, i noticed on the last one(eclipse 32440) that it jumped back and forth. Cant recall if it did it on the RF Punch 150 25 to life though. I'll power it up again. The third amp is being used as a parts amp so i am unable to do much with that anymore. Thanks

Oh, by the way, that power Acoustik BAMF 5500/1d i talked to you about had a bad connection on one of the power rails, just needed some solder and it was good to go. Maybe i should leave a message in my thread about it, might help others. Thanks

If it's pegging the amp meter, the current draw is greater than the supply can deliver. Generally, when a standard head unit is used as a signal source, a second, smaller power supply is used to power the head unit. This prevents the head unit from shutting down when too much current is drawn from the main supply.

Makes sense. So its possible there isnt anything wrong with these amps? And do you have any other recommendations on a signal source? Thanks

What's the current rating of the power supply?

A standard head unit is OK, especially when you have a separate power supply for it.

Assuming that the power supply is in good working order, I'd suspect that those amps had shorted output transistors (if the excessive current draw was only after remote voltage was applied).
