Ive got this amp in for repair and first thing I notice is a few coils and caps have failed. What kind of coil is this and can I wind new copper onto it?

You can rewind it but it may be available from JBL.

Sometimes when an inductor overheats, the core properties change and rewinding it doesn't return it to the proper value. If you rewind it and have problem with it overheating or with the outputs heating up at idle, it may need to be replaced.

I was thinking that, or if I was going to rewind I'd first unwind and measure the precise length of the copper coming off of the coil. I'll call the customer and see what he wants to do because he wanted this one back pretty quick which doesnt look like that will happen at the moment.

I got the call back from Harman parts at JBL. They do not have this coil in stock for at least 1-2 months. When it becomes available the cost will be $17.50 + S&H.
