Default Rockford Fosgate BD15001

Hey Perry BD 15001 board PC-3417-D

Amp powers on and sometimes squeels inside sometimes not. Stays powered on and draws about 5 amps at idle. It will stay on as long as the gain is all the way down. If you adjust the gain while powered on the idle current just starts to drop like to 2 amps then when the gain reaches about 1/2 adjustment it draws full current from my power supply and seems like it is shorting (pops the fuse) Any ideas???

I know Rockford had alot of problems with their transformers whining and began coating them in later models. I dont know if it is shorted or not. Their is a massive pop when you hook up or unhook the speaker as well. You definantely do not want the speaker hooked up when you adjust the gain either WOW surprised it didnt tear my sub apart.

What's the DC voltage on the positive speaker terminal?

Were you testing with or without a signal and speaker when it drew excessive current?

The dc voltage on the + speaker terminal is 0.00v dc

I was testing with no signal or speaker hooked up

I also tested with a signal and speaker hooked up with same result, but was afraid to re-test with speaker thinking it could get damaged from the severe movement.

Checked ohm reading from last leg of Q101 to speaker terminal positive and it was 0.1 ohms

It did not change when I wiggled the output inductor coil either

Let's put this on on hold. My pea brain can't keep two such similar amps straight. When we finish with the 1000, we'll come back to this one.

OK Perry here we are again another Rockford BD. The amp looks very similar to the BD10001 so things on my end will be easier for sure. I wont have to ask you so many dumb questions this time. Where do you want to start??

Post 4 photos of the gate signals (one from each of the 4 groups of power supply FETs - you'll read ~20 ohms between the gate legs in each group). Start with the timebase on 5us and the vertical amp on 5v/div. Adjust the timebase to display 3-4 full cycles. Adjust the vertical amp so that the waveform deflects about 2 divisions above the reference (center the trace on the reference line before beginning).
