here is a picture of the component location. If anybody has this amp plaease tell me what is at 1n4751 on the board, almost direct center of board nest to model number printed on board.

That's a 1N4751 Zener diode.

lol, i figured that number was merely a label for the location on the board, but then i saw the other components are all labeled also.

thanks for the quick reply, the guy that owns this amp has had this blow numerous times, but also he likes to run his amp @ 1 ohm with out flipping the switch over, would this cause the diode failure? of is there possibly an underlying problem?

The load on the amp has nothing to do with this. If I'm not mistaken, this diode is the voltage regulator for the op-amps. In amps that tend to overheat this diode, I generally use two 1 watt 15v Zeners in series instead of one 1 watt 30v Zener.

GrandAm88 - Do you still have this amp? I think I have one like it myself worth fixing - its an Autotek 44 by Zed. Can you shoot me a pic or two of the inside plus the component side of the driver board? I have not looked up much on it yet, but one channel seems to have a bad driver. Hope you still got it and got it working!

You know what? nevermind I think... I just looked on amp-guts and seems there are two models of Autotek 44. Mine does not have the proprietary 'zed' inline components but does have a vertical driver board, and also mine uses hard-wiring instead of terminals.

Still, they are both Zed made amps right?
