Default XTANT 3300X

This amp is using IRF530's and 9530's for the outputs The IRF530'S are defective . Can i replace them with IRF540'S or do i need to replace them with the same part number ??

Just asking cause i know some of theese Xtant amps dont like upgraded parts or cross referenced parts in them.

The 540s and 9540s should be OK. I've used them as subs. I don't know if these are sensitive to the specific version like the Rockford amps (IRF540 --> IRF540N problem). If the IRF540A is available, order those. I've never had a problem with them in any amp.

They will be fine. I have used them as subs in a few 3300c/x's without issue and are still actively being used today.

When i removed the Irf9z34 and the 530's out of 1 bank of fets and the 9530's out of the other bank amp powerd up and idled perfectly i replaced the 530's and 9530's in the amp checked the resistors and drivers .

When trying to power the amp up it draws excessive current and when i try to use a current limiter the transformers start squealing and still draws the same amount of current..

Any ideas on where to go from here?

Did you check the gate resistors on the bottom of the board?

These amps can be VERY difficult to troubleshoot. Transistors often open and cause excessive current draw. There are also resistors that open and can cause strange problems. I'd suggest that you use a lighted magnifying glass to very carefully check all of the SMD resistors for the blown channel.

You should be able to find the drivers (often in a group of 4 adjacent transistors). If you can't find any connected to the outputs, the gate resistors may be open. The emitter of two drivers should be connected to the gate resistors for the N-channel and the P-channel outputs.

Im checking the resistors and Transistors in the defective channel.

I noticed that all of the channels have 3.22 volts of DC on them.
