Generally, you use the markings to look up the part numbers. In some instances, you'll have to measure the case with a dial or digital micrometer to get the right part. This isn't foolproof but it generally gets you close.

On your board, you likely have transistors marked DK and AG. Unfortunately, this site doesn't seem to work for these transistors (didn't realize until I looked them up). I think they're more likely to be the 2SC4672 and the 2SA1797 than the Philips transistors indicated on the site. Look up the datasheets for the transistors I listed.
