Default Replacing AUIRF1010EZ w/ IRF3205's (SMPS)

Hey Perry, I have a few amps with the AUIRF1010EZ's in the SMPS section, Can you advise the 3205's as a drop-in?

It depends on the drive circuit. What amps are they?

Why not order the originals?

I'm not familiar with that amp. What are they using for drivers?

A pair of 2SC2383's, and A pair of 2SA1013's per side.

I believe that the 3205s would be OK in this amp. If it's regulated and the pulse width is not 50% at idle, you need to reduce the voltage on your 12v power supply to make the duty cycle go to 50%. If the current draw increases when the duty cycle increases, you'll need to modify the circuit to make it reliable.

Was the amp fully functional at the time?

If the amp was fully functional and the supply voltage was at least 12.5v and the gate drive was at 50%, it's likely unregulated and there's no need to do any additional testing. If the 3205s run cool for abut a minute out of the sink at idle, they're being switched properly.
