Default I have a problem. We have a problem.

Its a form of Alchololics Anonymous; where addiction bleads over into an otherwise boring and regular lifestyle. Growing up my father always talked about heathkits, teslacoils, AC gilbert, train sets, ham radios, and even pyro mishaps with M80s and salt-peter. Today we have bleach and chinese electronics and theres nothing much even in a computer worth tinkering with; just replace a card, software, and whammo its fixed.

Theres something else going on in this forum; these pages, plus the pile of amplifiers under my desk at home are leading me twards some kind of electronics nirvana. My wife thinks I'm crazy, "That thing looks like a dangerous doorstop. Dont get electricuted huny!". Plus something to be said about looking at a ~30 year old 5" green screen (oScope) versus the 55" LED I'm still paying off.

Its hopeless! I cant stop the madness! ARG! Its so much fun!

I dont think I'm alone...

try having a bunch that you are pretty sure you found all the bad components, but dont have enough money to put in an order that will cover all the parts. Stupid order keeps getting bigger too.

Or you consider pulling parts out of a working amp, to try and fix a non working amp.

I remember when I first started repairing amps..... I had barley any tools or equipment... and only one amp to work on.... Now, I walk into, what used to be my spare bedroom, and I say to myself "son of a bitch" when did I aquire all of this equipment and what in the hell am I going to do with all these "freebie" amps, I've ran out of closet space, which I ended up building shelves in, half my floor is taken up by a pile of working/non working/project amps.... I'd like to find time to finish my project amps, but it seems as if when I think I have time, I'll get in more amps that need to be repaired.

There's something about it that I can't leave alone.....

Shhesh and you've only been a member of this forum for how many months!?!?!?

What the heck are we thinking? Everybody in here must have like the wackyest car stereo setup with 20 year old amps.

I'd like to ask in this thread; "Whats yourfavorite", but I feel that question is not productive in an AA meeting.. so; "How do we get out of this mess?" is the better question.

AA - "Amplifiers Anonymous"

You Too !!! I got a 8 X 10 shed out back that I can not walk into shelves full from floor to ceiling, plus a spare bedroom/shop with 8 foot bench and tools, that is stacked full to the walls and floor, and my bedroom is filling up also with keepers and rare items.....And I am retired now only trying to keep a hobby going to stay busy

I even have the very last two MS-1000's that PG never finished assembling off the line when they closed it down for good. I have no idea when i will ever get time to finish those 5 MS-2250 assemblies, and one of them is mine....

WHEW!!! glad I am not alone LOL LOL LOL ......I thought I was the only one getting further behind everyday

Yea and add beating me with seconds left on good repair amps on ebay! LOL

But seriously, I started repairing amps earlier this year just to find a few old school gems. Now it has turned into repairing amps to pay for the repairs for broken old school amps that need repair that I want to collect. Whew... Its fun, addictive, and i dont know when Im gonna stop. Now I've just received a Tripath TA3020 that Im gonna use to make my own amp.

Punch 150 schematic needed

Did you try ebay for pots?

The fuse holders can be repaired.

The first gen had no fuses.

Start another thread if you need to reply.
