Hello all, My name is Mike. As you can see I am new here. I have recently got back into car audio and am having an issue with a car amp. My question is;
I have a MA Audio HK-302sx. It was running 2 12" DB dual VC subs. One day I smelled smoke inside my truck so I pulled over. My subs were smoking and fried. The amp was powered on still but the power light was flashing off and on, while it was doing this you could hear a thumping sound coming from the subs in sync with the flashing power light. I have tried hooking it up to different subs and got the same results. Does anyone know were to start looking for problems, power input transistors, output transistors, diodes, etc etc. Also, does anyone know were i can get a schematic of this amp?? Any help would be greatly appreciated I am at a loss here... Thank you in advance for any time and help! Mike |

You're unlikely to find a schematic diagram for the amp.
The output transistors would be the most likely problem.

Thank you Perry. I know only a little about the internals of car amps, would you happen to have an explanation on how to properly check the transistors with a multi- meter...ie, what exact setting to put the meter on and how to tell if one is bad just by the read out? |

If you're new to amp repair, please read the Basic Amp Repair page first (link in sig file below). If you still have questions, ask for clarification.
