I have a KAC-1023 sitting here with the x-over/gain board missing.
Does anybody know if it could be substituted with such a board from other 23-series amps? As I didn't find any good internal pics of any 23-series amp I even don't know if the smaller ones have the controls on such a subboard... I think I can get a 823, to be a bit more specific! So I will have to spend the 5€ (~4$) for the 823 and have a look for myself...

So, unfortunatly the board is NOT the same as in the 823.
The 823 has the status LED on the same board, in the 1023 it's on another small board. Also the 1023 has one ribbon wire running to it, the board in the 823 uses two ribbon wires. I believe it could be modified, but as I will get the original 1023 board I wont have to try that!

It probably has shorted output transistors if it only blows the fuse after the remote voltage is applied. You should disconnect all speaker wires from the amp, disconnect the RCAs and power it up. Does it blow the fuse?
I'd recommend using a single 20 amp fuse inline. You may be able to use only one 20 amp fuse in the fuseholders on the amp but some amps have separate circuits and require that all fuses be used. Four 5 or 7.5 amp fuses would be safe. If the amp blows the fuse and you need help repairing it, start a new thread instead of continuing here.
