New car...new speakers
OK so I have a Chrysler 300M Special. It uses 6.75" drivers in the lower doors, and 2.5" drivers in the upper part of the doors in the rear and 2.5" drivers in pods that sit on tip of the door.
My plan is to slightly modify the door panel to take a Dayton 7" RS midbass and do *something* for the upper mids and a tweeter. The last car had a 6" Dayton RS driver and a Tangband W2-803SM and it sounded good except at very high volumes where the Tangbands couldn't quite keep up. Xover was 350Hz 6dB/oct on someone's recommendation....500Hz 12dB/oct is more like it really. So should I stick with the formula using a revised Xover and the 7" or is there another 2" mid-tweeter I should have a look at? If anyone knows of a VERY shallow 2.5 it might just fit...I haven't found one that will. |
How about going active? Then you could change the Xover points and slopes whenever you felt like it :)
If you have the budget, I'd give the Hybrid Audio Legatia a look... |
Going active at a later date....home grown active Xover.
